Roscrea Credit Union would like to invite members as well as non members of the Credit Union to a free “Reduce Your Energy Bills Seminar” on Monday next April 20th in the Damer Court (Grant’s Hotel), Roscrea, at 7.00pm.
The Seminar which will be conducted in association with “The Tipperary Energy Agency” is aimed in particular at the general public, residential householders, and small businesses.
The Seminar will commence with a presentation by Siona Daly, Energy Engineer with the Tipperary Energy Agency. Siona will give tips on how to reduce your energy bills at home and at work as well as discussing the various government grants that are now available to the public through Sustainable Energy Ireland in order to retrofit houses with better insulation etc making homes more energy efficient.

Examples of the savings you will make by attending the seminar can be highlighted through the following statistic. The average electricity consumption in a domestic house is 16kWh / day. This equates to an electricity bill of over €1000 per annum. Through this seminar, it will be possible to pick up tips to reduce this consumption by between 10 and 30% saving you a lot of money on your annual heating and lighting bills.
The EU project, Energy Neighbourhoods, is a project that is currently underway in Nenagh, Thurles and Cahir. The progress of this project which aims to motivate householders, living within certain neighbourhoods, to reduce their measured energy consumption by 8% giving significant cost reductions will be disseminated at this Seminar by Vincent Carragher, Project Officer of the EU Energy Neighborhoods project. This project will potentially be open to other towns at a later date so it will be interesting to assess the interest in the people of Roscrea.
Finally, renewable energy is at the forefront of the news and media at the minute in Ireland. The Tipperary Energy Agency will provide unbiased independent advice to the public with honest opinions and thoughts on how the technologies work at a domestic level and the payback periods expected. If you want to know whether you should invest in a solar panel or a wind turbine for your home or business, then this is the seminar to ask that very question as both presenters will offer honest and independent answers to all your questions
If you are serious about saving money in these difficult economic times then this is a seminar not to be missed. Roscrea Credit Union is delighted to be involved with this initiative as the Credit Union feels such a seminar will be of major benefit to the people of Roscrea and it’s neighbouring towns and villages. Everyone is invited, so do come along and enjoy what promises to be a very informative and beneficial evening for all concerned. For more information contact Brian King at Roscrea Credit Union (0505 23601) or Siona Daly at the “Tipperary Energy Agency” 052 43012.
