Rehearsals are now in full swing and there is a great enthusiasm among cast and crew. Taking the lead role of ‘Calamity Jane’ will be Clara native Louise McEvoy who has starred in Portlaoise and Clara musical society productions.

She is no stranger to the stage and is really looking forward to bringing her endearing personality to the Roscrea audiences. Playing opposite her in the part of ‘Wild Bill Hickock’ will be Frank Jordan who has just recently joined our society. He has also played many roles in the past and is looking forward to his role.

Taking the part of ‘Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin’ will be Martin Maher who has performed in numerous shows with the society and his love interest in the show will be Rachael McMahon, who starred in ‘Peg O My Heart’ in 2004. This time she will play Danny’s romantic counterpart ‘Katie Brown’. The ever reliable Gerry Dwyer will play the role of proprietor of ‘The Golden Garter’ ‘Henry Miller’, a role he played the last time we did Calamity Jane in 1986.

Niamh O Donnell will be playing the role of his niece ‘Susan’ and Niamh has also taken many roles in different shows over the years. Paul Spencer will take the comedy role of ‘Francis Fryer’, the Vaudeville song and dance man. He has become familiar with comedy roles over the years and this year you can be assured of some great laughs.

Siobhán Bowe will play his female co-star ‘Adelaide Adams’. She is delighted to take this part and will bring her own unique style to the role. Stage coach driver ‘Rattlesnake’ will be played by the hilarious Paddy O Dwyer. ‘Doc Pierce’, the town undertaker will be played by well-known local man Andrew Walsh whom we are delighted to have back this year. Ian Hanrahan will take the role of ‘Joe’ the barman and Tadhg Maher and Paul Tobin O Brien will play the parts of ‘Hank’ and ‘Pete’ respectively. The ‘Colonel’ of the Fort will be played by Tim Keane.
 STAGE CREW
The ‘Johnnies’, the singing quartet will be played by Conor Abbot, Conor Harte, Tadhg Maher and Paul Tobin O Brien. The show promises to be a great crowd pleaser and every effort is being made to ensure a vibrant and colourful show. The show includes many showstoppers including ‘Deadwood stage’, ‘Windy City’, ‘Secret Love’ and ‘The Black Hills of Dakota’.
The show will run from Saturday 25th April to Saturday 2nd May in the Abbey Hall and booking will open on Tuesday 14th April in Roscrea Credit Union 0505 23600. So book your tickets now and don’t be disappointed.
