Members of Roscrea Community Choir and others who helped organise the “As Time Goes By” concert on December 7th 2008. The aim of this concert which took place in St. Cronan’s (RC) Church was to not only commemorate the ten years since the choir was reformed but to raise funds for Fr. Colm Hogan’s Mission in Ecuador. Fr. Colm who was a priest of the parish here in Roscrea and also a member of the choir following its reformation is currently on a mission to Ecuador – a very poor area of South America. On the choir’s first trip which was to Rome where they sang for Pope John Paul II, Fr. Colm acted as choir chaplain.

The choir and all those who helped put on the concert – many of which could not make it for the presentation, were most gratified that the proceeds of the concert yielded such a large sum. The choir would like to wish Fr. Colm well on his mission and thank most sincerely all those who helped with the staging of the concert. Fr. Colm’s nephew Colm and his twin sister Aoife proudly hold the presentation cheque – proceeds of Roscrea Community Choir’s “As Time Goes By” concert – to the amount of €8,123.30. Present also were Colm and Aoife’s mother Joan, Ms. Lucy McCarthy musical director, members of the choir and helpers Mai Phelan and Michael Doran.
