Roscrea Credit Union would like to thank all those that attended the “Reduce Your Energy Bills Seminar” on Monday evening last at The Damer Court Hotel, Roscrea. The event was organised by the Credit Union in association with “The Tipperary Energy Agency” and was aimed in particular at the general public, residential householders, and small businesses.

The seminar was a tremendous success and both the Credit Union and the Tipperary Energy Agency were delighted with the large attendance. The Credit Union would like to thank Siona Daly who delivered a wonderful presentation on giving tips on how to reduce your energy bills at home and at work. Siona also discussed the various government grants that are now available to the public through Sustainable Energy Ireland in order to retrofit houses with better insulation etc making homes more energy efficient. Siona concluded with an in-depth look at various renewable energy systems available for the home and the advantages and disadvantages of the more popular systems available on today’s market.

The EU project, Energy Neighbourhoods, is a project that is currently underway in Nenagh, Thurles and Cahir. The progress of this project which aims to motivate householders, living within certain neighbourhoods, to reduce their measured energy consumption by 8% giving significant cost reductions was disseminated at the Seminar by Vincent Carragher, Project Officer of the EU Energy Neighborhoods project. The presentation which largely focused upon Energy Conservation was very well received and it is hoped that a similar project will be adopted by Roscrea people in the near future.
Roscrea Credit Union was delighted to be involved with this initiative which was organised as part of the Credit Union’s “Marketing And Promotional Committee’s” objectives for the forthcoming year. While the country might be doing its best to keep it’s head above water in these challenging economic times, Roscrea and its neighbouring communities can be assured that your local Credit Union will continue to immerse itself in community activities and projects that they feel will be of benefit to it’s many members. Our strength is in our numbers so we would encourage everyone living or working within a ten mile radius of Roscrea Credit Union to come and join us and help ensure that we continue to be “The Powerhouse For Community Development”
For more information about the presentations that were delivered on the night of the seminar feel free to contact Brian King at Roscrea Credit Union (0505 23601)(bking@roscreacu.ie) or Siona Daly at the “Tipperary Energy Agency” 052 43012. (sdaly@tea.ie)
