St Cronan’s (Roscrea) Boxing Club:

Roscrea Boxing Club hosted an invitational tournament recently. Despite the artic conditions, competitors travelled all the way from Fermoy and those in attendance were treated to some great fights. Pictured are the organising committee:

The newly reformed Roscrea Boxing Club continues to go from strength to strength. To celebrate this a tournament took place recently and was a great success. Despite the bad weather, athletes, coaches and supporters traveled to Roscrea from Cork, Carrick On Suir, Clonmel and Nenagh to compete in the event.

Renowned referee Danny Copinger was on hand to referee a number of fantastic bouts all of which were contested with great spirit and enthusiasm. All though the tournament was fought on a friendly basis, the boxers competing on the night fought with tremendous heart and determination putting on a great display for those lucky enough to be in attendance.

The Roscrea Coaches in particular were delighted with their boxers. The hard work of recent months is really starting to pay of and club officials are hopeful of numerous successes in the ring later this year.

Club training takes place on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. 7-10 Years from 6pm – 7pm and 10 yrs up including adults from 7 – 8.30pm. New members are always welcome. The boxing gym is equipped with all the equipment you need and it is great to see the boxing ring sponsored by Roscrea Credit Union two years ago, back in action. Photos from the tournament will be available to view on www.roscreaonline.com, later this week.
