The final preparations are now taking place for the RoscreBeo festival which will take place on Sunday week the 26th of August at 2pm in the majestic surrounds of Roscrea Castle. The festival which is sponsored by Roscrea Credit Union & Roscrea Super Valu with generous support from Roscrea Lions Club, North Tipperary County Council and Shannon Development is expected to draw hundreds of people with lots of activates on offer for both young and old.
Some of the highlights on Sunday will include historical enactments, a free circus, a free concert in St Cronan’s Church, the Roscrea Miscellany, and a Ceilí that will run late into the night.
It is hoped that the people of Roscrea will come out in force on August to celebrate the festival. Historical enactments featuring the outlaws of Sherwood forest taking on the might of the Sheriff of Nottingham will be a huge attraction as will THE TALLEST SMALLEST CIRCUS IN THE WORLD' This is one act not to be missed! Bring the whole family...its free. There will be plenty of music entertainment provided by buskers and Roscrea Comhaltas throughout the day and lots of other attractions including walking tours and craft displays to help keep everyone happy. Also featuring as part of the festival will be craft demonstrations, a mock heritage dig, face painting, hurling skills and a heritage quiz. There will be a picture exhibition, musical instrument and display talks, and much much more.

Creative Catering managed by Bernie Teehan will be setting up a stall at RosCré Beo. Creative Catering will have a selection of beautiful home delights, including breads, scones, fruitcakes, buns, apple-tarts, biscuit cake,etc. The Committee is delighted to announce local artist Paulina Zurakowska will be setting up a stall at our festival as will Ms. Fionnuala O’Connell of FINN CERAMICS.
Popular local bands “The Winter Passing” and “Planet 15” will be in concert as will Eddie Simmons joint winner of the open mic night competition which was hosted recently. The Committee are awaiting confirmation from more local bands and are looking forward to helping showcase the wonderful talent that we have on our doorstep in Roscrea.

A concert entitled “Sacred Space” will be one of the highlights of the day long festival. The concert will commence at 6.30pm in St Cronan’s Church of Ireland. Soprano Nicole Robinson will be the star attraction together with Mezzo Soprano Fiona Baldwin and Pianists Adam McDonough & Marie Power. Chairperson of the Roscrea Beo Committee, Soprano Cathriona Walsh will also make a much anticipated appearance at the concert. Special guests on the night will include the Monks of Mount St Joseph as well as the Deanery Choir with more artists yet to be confirmed. Admission to the concert is by voluntary donation.
Completing the day will be the Roscrea Miscellany followed by a Ceilí in the Damer Court Hotel which will be staged by the world famous Danny Webster. Sunday will be a huge day for Roscrea. It’s success and the motivation for the committee to spearhead an even bigger festival next year will depend upon it’s support so please do come out and support your town and help us showcase Roscrea to the many visitors we expect to come to the event. We would also remind readers of the bio diversity walk which will commence at 1pm at Roscrea Castle on Saturday, August 25th.
