The Festival of Faith in St. Cronan’s Parish, Roscrea began with great celebrations over the weekend. Roscrea Folk Group got the weekend off to a joyous & uplifting start when they celebrated their 40th Anniversary on Saturday night at the Vigil Mass. A large crowd enjoyed the beautiful music & singing that the Folk Group are well-known for.
On Sunday our newly-ordained Bishop of Killaloe, Fintan Monahan, launched our Parish Mission, which runs until this Friday 28th October. In doing so, he also blessed our new exit road which was constructed within the past year for pedestrian safety & is working very well. Francis Murray was on hand representing Frank Murray & Sons who were responsible for the construction of this road.
Bishop Fintan then went on to bless the renovated Parish Centre (formerly the Legion Hall), which houses the Parish Office, two meeting rooms & a counselling room. This Centre was renovated & the Parish Office was incorporated into it by FÁS workers under the supervision of Paddy Reidy & the keen eye of Michael McEvoy & the Building Committee. Paddy Reidy cut the tape on the Centre & praised the workers who carried out the task in such a professional manner.
Having greeted parishioners after 12 o’clock Mass, Bishop Fintan then met another gathering of parishioners in the Abbey Hall for a quick cuppa. A man of remarkable faith, his kindness & interest in each parishioner he met was very apparent.
Our Parish Mission runs until Friday 28th, with Mass daily at 7am & 10am & an Evening Service at 7pm. All are invited to this very special week in the life of our Parish.
