During 2004 in an effort to improve catering facilities and provide a School Oratory, Coliste Phobal Ros Cr set out on an ambitious fundraising campaign. The Lions Club were among the first organisations to commit 5,000 to the project. This was a welcome confidence boost to the Committee and helped them to proceed with plans and arrangements to complete the project. The new Lunch Room and Oratory were completed during the summer months and have been in use since late September. Both facilities are a welcome addition to the school. Students and staff can now get high quality hot food on campus without the need to go down town. The new Oratory is a nice quiet place to go and meditate or reflect as well as a location to hold Masses and Ecumenical Services. The Lions Club held two ’Stars in their Eyes’ shows to raise the money. Not only did they manage to raise the 5,000 committed, but they also raised an additional 3,000 which will be used to install stained glass to enhance the environs of the Oratory.

At the presentation of the cheque were Lions Club members involved in the Project and school representatives: Back: Paddy Collison, Lions Club, Gerard O’Brien, School Principal John Hogan, Chairman BOM, Ivan Hastings, President, Lions Club, Rev.
