Course 1 - Beginners' Course in Information Technology
This course is a one-year beginner's course designed for mature adults. The course is designed for adults who may have been out of education for a long period of time, or are interested in learning and would like the opportunity to return to education to participate in a year of learning/exploration and gain the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary for further study. The course will be learner based and will advance a pace that will suit the learner's needs. The course is the ideal foundation for pursuing further study eg Level II PLC Award offered in the Return to Work IT Skills Course or otherwise.
Duration:
September to May (2004-05), Monday to Friday - Mornings only- 10 am to 12.25 pm
Fee:
35 (towards NCVA certification at Level I and Level II)
Course 2 - Return to Work Information Technology Skills Course
This course is aimed at mature adults who may have been away from the workplace for some time and now wish to re-train and acquire the confidence and skills necessary to allow them embark, once again, on a working career or pursue their own personal ambitions. This course has been running successfully over the years, and each year there is an overwhelming demand for places. Many past students have obtained gainful employment after the course.
Duration:
September to May (2004-05), Monday to Friday - Mornings only 10 am - 1 pm
Fee:
35 (towards NCVA Level II certification)
Course 3 - Advanced Diploma for IT Users - City and Guilds - Level III
Employers are looking for people with hands-on skills as well as a good understanding of underlying theory. This new qualification combines planning and organising with a high level of skills for supervisory and management posts. It is the ideal progression for candidates who have completed a Level II course eg Return to Work IT Course. It would also suit candidates employed part-time in IT-based positions in the workplace who may wish to update their skills.
Duration:
September to May (2004-05), 3 Mornings only 9.20 - 1 pm
Entry Requirement:
Candidates are recommended to have a Level II IT qualification eg NCVA/ECDL
Unemployed persons and Lone Parents are eligible for a place on all courses while still maintaining social welfare payments.
Maintenance grants are provided for eligible candidates.
