The streets of Roscrea were filled with colour and excitement on Wednesday last as the town celebrated its 26th successive Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Not even the disappointment of Moscow Flyer's Fall in the Queen Mother Chase at Cheltenham could dampen the enthusiasm of all those gathered to witness the first of hopefully many big days in Roscrea this year, as the town gears itself up for hosting the Munster Fleadh in July, the biggest event to be held in Roscrea in modern times.
Overall Winner - Ashbury, Sheehane & Kennedy Park Residents & Roscrea 2000. LtoR: Eileen Kennedy, David Mitchell, Jack Carter, Eileen Quinlavin, Mary Dollard, Clodagh O'Reilly, Niamh McNamara, Emma O'Reilly, Mayor Sean Mulrooney.
Once again many of the towns local clubs and organisations were represented in the parade. Entries this year were of a very high standard, and the judges had a very difficult task indeed when asked to select the best overall prize.
Guest Of Honour at this year's parade was Mayor Sean Mulrooney who also attended a pre parade reception at Damer House. While the crowds were gathering and the expectation building Roscrea Comhaltas provided some wonderful entertainment from Market Square.
