Roscrea Musical Society were delighted to get the news recently that Paul Spencer ,who played ’Toby’ the devil’s sidekick in our hugely successful ’God Bless Archie Dean’,has been nominated as ’BEST COMEDIAN’ for the AIMS AWARDS 2005.These awards ,sponsored by Volkswagen and 'The Ha'penny Bridge' show case the best talent from the Musical Societies across the whole of Ireland.News that Paul had been nominated in the Sullivan Category came as a great boost to the society;our sell-out run of 'God Bless Archie Dean' proved to be one of our most popular shows-sending home our audiences in great humour after nights of side-splitting comedy.

This is the second year running for the society to be nominated;last year Siobhan Bowe brought home the 'Best Supporting Actress' award and she is delighted to be cheering for Paul in Killarney in June when the awards ceremony takes place.Many Congrats Paul on a most well-deserved nomination!The whole Society and your Roscrea supporters will be rootin' for you!
Congratulations to to all our friends in neighbouring societies ;TO Willie O'Brien for Nenagh Choral Society,Tommy Sweeney(Thurles),St.Mary's M.S.,Clonmel,Carrick-on-Suir M.S. and Tipp.M.S.,-in fact all six Tipp. Societies feature in the nominations lists.!Many congrats also to Birr Stage Guild,Tullamore M.S.,and Athlone M.S. who also feature in the nominations and to our friend Aodan Fox (Shannon M.S.) who has been nominated for the 10th time(at least!).Aodan has guested with Roscrea M.S. in a number of shows.
