American Blues in Roscrea Castle

You are in · RoscreaOnline · Community · Music / Concerts

World renowned acoustic guitarist Preston Reed, performs in Roscrea Castle on Wednesday 10th November.

His idol is piano great Bill Evans and he sounds like a one-man band by slapping and punching his instrument while playing high notes to accompany the lower melody. He has been called a phenomenon and his creativity likened to Jimi Hendrix but Preston plays without a head full of chemical inspiration and, as he says, he communicates with the world through his music.

If any comparison should be made, he is more like the Paul Simon of the acoustic guitar. In fact, one or two numbers might well influence Simon to add lyrics.

His virtuoso performance covers jazz, blues and rock with even a hint of skiffle! Well, he did start off playing the ukulele.

Tickets 10 euro or Students 5 euro, available at door or from 0505 21689. Concert starts at 8.15pm
