Representatives of Student Unions from Limerick Institute Of Technology, Limerick School Of Art And Design, Mary Immaculate College And The University Of Limerick have unanimously objected to the reintroduction of tuition fees. Limerick's educational institutes combined have upwards of 12,000 students who are not eligible to receive a government grant. The introduction of these fees will increase the financial burden of third level education spiraling the cost from approximately 5000 to approximately 8500 per annum. It is hoped that the protest served its purpose of increasing the awareness of the student population and the general public at large of this pressing issue.
