On Sunday 30th October, the launch of the Tipperary Collection in the Irish Life and Lore Series of books and recordings, produced by Maurice and Jane O`Keeffe, Tralee, took place at Mount St. Joseph Abbey, Roscrea. The launch was performed by Dom Laurence Walsh OCSO, and took place during the Roscrea Autumn Conference, organised by George Cunningham.
Launch of 45 cds on Tipperary memories in the Irish Life and Lore series:
Dom Laurence Walsh OCSO performed the official launch of the Tipperary Collection at Mt St Joseph Abbey at the conclusion of the 37th Roscrea conference on Sunday last.

The Tipperary Collection comprises 45 hour long recordings on CDs, together with an illustrated catalogue which provides a brief synopsis of each recording. People who hail from North and South Tipperary were interviewed by Maurice O`Keeffe, and the wide range of topics covered were recollections of childhood, family history, placenames, national history, crafts, music, entertainment, lakeside living, religion, customs and beliefs.
The launch was a wonderful event, attended by academics, historians and people with a deep interest in Irish life and our history, and the guests of honour were the participants in the recordings, who travelled from far and wide to be present on this special occasion. MC for the occasion was George Cunningham. Professor Donnchadh O Corrain UCC and a member of the Archives Commission of Ireland, and guestmaster Fr Nivard Kinsella also spoke at the launch.
The Tipperary Collection has been purchased by Tipperary Libraries, and may be accessed there in the near future
