Roscrea Credit Union announced this week that they are pledging €500.00 towards all residential estates/areas in Roscrea to help with the Tidy Towns effort. The Credit Union celebrates forty years of service in the community this year and this is just one of many ambitious projects that the Credit Union are currently engaged in to help mark this important milestone in it’s history.
Representatives from the various estates and residential areas in the town were contacted last week with details of this very generous offer. Roscrea Credit Union are long term admirers of the “Roscrea Tidy Towns Association” and all the positive work they contribute each year to help make Roscrea an ever more beautiful town to visit and to live in. To help with the Tidy Towns effort the Credit Union is willing to sponsor every “Residents Association” in the area to the value of €500.00 for the purchase of flowers, trees and shrubs. The purpose of the sponsorship is to make the estates/residential areas and the approach roads to the estates/residential areas more attractive. After consultation with the Tidy Towns Committee it was felt that improving the visual aspect of our town with more flowers etc would give major impetus to the Tidy Towns objectives for this year.
Last year Roscrea Credit Union sponsored the “Planter Boxes” that are placed at strategic locations around the town bringing great colour and vitality to the area. The Credit Union is confident that the “Planter Boxes” combined with its sponsorship of the “Residents Association’s” should help greatly with the awarding of even more points to the town in this year’s “Tidy Towns” competition. The Credit Union would also hope that these initiatives will act as a great catalyst with regards encouraging more people to become even more involved with the local “Tidy Towns Committee” and where possible bring more colour to their place of residence and their place of business through the use of hanging baskets, floral displays, window boxes etc.
Chairman of Roscrea Credit Union Seamus Mullaney said this week that the sponsorship would be of enormous benefit to Roscrea. He said in the last few weeks alone the Credit Union have also launched it’s sponsorship of Killavilla United’s All weather Facilities and full sponsorship of Roscrea Hurling Club. Mr Mullaney encouraged representatives from the different residential areas in the town to come forward and avail of this unique opportunity. Chief Executive Officer of the Credit Union Mr Ray McCarthy who in a recent interview with the Sunday Times gave examples of how strong Roscrea Credit Union is in the local community said that he welcomed this initiative. Mr McCarthy congratulated Roscrea Tidy Towns for their continued commitment to Roscrea and said he had no doubt that the Credit Union’s contribution would be invaluable towards the Tidy Town’s effort this year. Business Development Officer of the Credit Union, Brian King who will help spearhead the project with Tidy Towns Chairperson, Denis Ryan said this was a wonderful opportunity for neighbours, friends etc to come together and do something very positive for their local area while at the same time making an invaluable contribution to Roscrea and the town as a whole. He said an attractive town is a town where people will want to visit, will want to invest and will want to prosper in. Chairman of Roscrea Tidy Towns Mr Denis Ryan said this was an unprecedented contribution by Roscrea Credit Union. Mr Ryan said he looked forward to working with the Credit Union on this project and thanked them wholeheartedly for their support of Roscrea Tidy Towns. Mr Ryan said the Credit Union have proved time and time again but particularly over the past few years how big a difference their presence and generosity makes to the local community.
As mentioned the Credit Union celebrate forty years of service in 2007. During those forty years the Credit Union has gradually become an “integral part of the local community” and is now firmly established as Roscrea’s leading financial institution with approximately 12,000 members incorporating the town of Roscrea and its many neighboring parishes and villages. The above is just a simple example of the many projects that the Credit Union is currently involved with. Anyone living or working within a ten mile radius of Roscrea is encouraged to join the Credit Union. By joining you will become part of a financial institution that truly is a “powerhouse” for community development in Roscrea and it’s surrounds.
