Roscrea Youth Centre celebrated another great year, with its end of year Mass and prize-giving ceremony. This night is an opportunity to showcase the young people of the club and how proud everyone is of them. Music was provided by members of the Folk Group and by a truly excellent choir made up by members of the club. The music just underscored an atmosphere of warmth and welcome. Aimee Brown read an opening reflection called “Time” which was in fact the theme of the Mass. Fr lorcan then attended to the backdrop made by senior club members consisting of faces of darkness and faces of light. Then everyone paused and thought of one friend they they would like to remember at the Mass.

Deirdre Cahir read the reading from the book of wisdom about time and then Leanne Loughnane sang the psalm “Time After Time”. Her voice soared and raised everyone’s spirits. After the Gospel, Fr Lorcan told a story about how all the human feelings of the world were leaving the island that was sinking. Love needed reassuring, yet kindness, vanity, sadness, joy etc failed to save her. Only the elder, time saved love, because its only time that truly understands just how great love is and that love is the only thing worth saving.
