Representatives from most clubs and organiations in the town were in attendance as were local politicians, members of the clergy and friends and family of Seamus from all over the world. The Juvenile Hurling Club was particularly well represented with club members officiating and helping out for the night.

Popular local singer, Tadhg Maher who features on the CD was MC for the launch. After welcoming everyone, the entertainment commenced with music from the Kinsella Family, Declan Carroll, Martin McHugh and Claire Quinn. Martin Delaney Jnr concluded the first part of the evening’s proceedings with a wonderful rendition of the “Roscrea Cows”.

A fest of music then followed as all the songs featured on the CD were sung. The very best in local talent featured on the CD and they all performed their songs on the night. Those in attendance were treated to the vocal prowess of local singers such as Tadhg Maher, Carmel Minogue, Sheelagh Chadwick, Deirdre Delaney and Anna-Marie Delaney. The singers were flanked by exceptional musicians including Peter Maher, Eileen O’Brien, David Kinsella, Theresa Larkin, Padraig Kinsella and Seamus Doran himself.

Seamus Doran introduced each of his songs and gave a brief background as to why he wrote each song that is featured on the CD. Seamus then thanked everyone that helped make the CD possible. In particular he thanked, Peter Maher who produced the CD and he had a special mention also for Eileen O’Brien who was unable to attend the launch.

After the ten songs were performed Seamus made a presentation to each singer. His mother Bridget then treated the attendance to one of her favourite songs “The Rose Of Avendale”. For the finale and encore all the musicians and singers gathered for “Come What May” and “My Hometown Of Roscrea”. Both songs received a standing ovation and thunderous applause.

The CD which is a limited edition is selling extremely well and is modestly priced at just €20.00. To get your copy drop into Bernies Super Valu, The Music Store, or you can contact Seamus Doran, direct on (087)9009820. The CD is a must for any local music collection in particular. Apart from a strong Roscrea influence, people from Cloughjordan will be interested in the song “Thomas McDonagh” and people from South Tipperary will be most interested in the Ballad Of Michael Hogan.
